Match on Action
Match on action shot means that when something happens in a scene then when there is a cut the same piece of action must be going on. this is an example on continuity editing and is very important in helping the audience continually understand what is going on.
Shot-Reverse Shot
Shot reverse shot is a film technique where one character is looking at another character and this character is looking back at the first character. Since the characters are shown facing opposite directions the viewer assumes that they are looking at each other.
Shot reverse shot is a feature of the classical hollywood style of continuity editing.
The 180 Degree Rule
In film making, the 180° rule is a basic guideline that states that two characters in the same scene should always have the same left/right relationship to each other. If the camera passes over the imaginary axis connecting the two subjects, it is called crossing the line. The new shot, from the opposite side, is known as a reverse angle.
